Distinguished Alumni Breakfast Series

Please join the Washington and Lee DC Alumni Chapter as we kick off 2011 with our Distinguished Alumni Breakfast series.  On February 16, we’ll host Garland S. Tucker, III, W&L Class of 1969 and President and CEO of Triangle Capital, a publicly-traded specialty finance company based in Raleigh.

Garland is a lifelong student of history who recently released his first book The High Tide of American Conservatism.  The book chronicles the 1924 presidential election’s top candidates – Republican Calvin Coolidge and Democrat John W. Davis (an alum of both W&L’s undergrad and law schools).  With a distinguished career in politics, law, and diplomacy, Davis is arguably one of the most influential W&L graduates – and unfortunately also one of the most forgotten.  The story features many other links to Lexington, including an account of the famous 1924 W&L mock convention.
